We were instantly inspired by our city – the streetcar tracks that connect us, aerial photography delineating neighbourhood boundaries and the lines that create the courts, rinks, diamonds, and pitches where people gather.
Using the motion and suggestion of kinetic energy from these lines and shapes we arrived at the TMU logo, using character breaks within the TMU letterform to suggest movement.
We then developed an identity for the team name logo ‘TMU Bold.’ Bold’ isn’t the most expected team name so we wanted to also diverge from the norm and focus on the expression being bold and impactful.
We also incorporated the university's Falcon mascot into the Bold logo. The wing shape, beak, and flight patterns helped us create a stylised “B” to evoke the feeling of a bird of prey in motion, diving at top speeds.
